From the Bocarroja country

This diptych comes from the encounter with a town in the lands of San Luis Potosí, the history of the country of the Bocarroja and how my father in his constant transfers to the countryside found a place so poor that the seeds treated with agrochemicals distributed by the government instead of being used for the field, they ate one part while they planted the other, because of the atrocious hunger that is latent. This made men, women, children and the elderly live with their faces and hands painted a very particular red.
Finding myself with the treated seeds and remembering these stories - which somehow became more real - I decided to paint with the same agrochemical that contains the corn seed. At the center of each box you can read:

Este díptico proviene del encuentro con un pueblo en las tierras de San Luis Potosí, de la historia del país de los Bocarroja y de cómo mi padre en sus translados constantes al campo se encontró con un lugar tan pobre que las semillas tratadas con agroquímicos repartidas por el gobierno en vez se ser usadas para el campo, se comían una parte mientras sembraban la otra, a causa del hambre atroz que se encuentra latente. Ello hacía que hombres, mujeres, niños y ancianos vivieran con la cara y manos pintadas de un rojo muy particular.
Encontrándome con las semillas tratadas y recordando estas historias -que de algún modo se volvieron más reales- decidí por pintar con el mismo agroquímico que contiene la semilla de maíz. Al centro de cada cuadro se puede leer:
